In the heart of tequila country, the Los Altos de Jalisco region hums with history, from mariachi music to the Mexican rodeo traditions of Charrería. The landscape rises over a mile high with iron-rich Tierra Roja soil reminiscent of the red clay soil of Georgia. Rolling fields of agave plants are tended to by Jimadores, their hands rough from years of harvesting.
It was here that two successful entrepreneurs from Georgia found themselves in 2021. Earnest Boyd, or E as we like to call him, had brought his good friend Dale Jones as he pursued his vision of an unforgettable tequila. They walked fields of Weber Blue agave under crisp blue skies and visited fabricas where tequileros poured authentic tequilas from the barrel. Each sip brought a quiet confirmation of something E had always instinctively understood. Tequila was meant to be an experience, a moment that lingered, a chance to savor something special. In that incredible landscape, Dale, a lifelong bourbon fan, was converted into a tequila lover.
When they discovered Tequilera Rivesca, a decades-old family-owned fabrica founded by local agave growers in the town of Amatitán, who fused old-world tequila production methods with modern techniques to create fantastic tequila, they knew they had found the perfect partner. From the moment they were welcomed like family into their home, to the hours spent by the fire discussing how to craft tequila, there was a connection. Aplomo Tequila was born.
Earnest and Dale founded Aplomo on the simple concept that the love of a good tequila cultivates connections. It brings family to the dining table, friends to the tailgate, and neighbors to the front porch to share stories and smiles. Aplomo means knowing that from the moment you open a bottle of our handmade small-batch tequila, you create memories with each sip. Aplomo means knowing that the drink you hold in your hand is an authentic tequila with no additives that you can sip with confidence.
Our tequila is made using mature 7–9-year-old Weber Blue Agave from the Jalisco highlands. The iron-rich ruby-red clay soil, higher elevation, and cooler climate create ideal conditions for growing sweet, floral agaves that are the base for our full-flavored tequilas. To craft Aplomo, we honor age-old horno techniques while embracing high-pressure innovation through our use of autoclaves. This method caramelizes the agave sugars while still retaining fresh herbal notes.
It is then finished off in a slow, controlled fermentation before undergoing a double distillation in copper-coil stainless steel pot stills. This long fermentation process, something few other tequilas undertake, strips away any harsh elements while enhancing the complexity of our tequila. That is how our tequila can deliver its signature silky-smooth finish with just a hint of the welcoming warmth that Mexico’s favorite spirit is known for.
We then finish the process using a dual barrel aging technique for both our Reposado and Añejo tequilas. By letting these tequilas mature in American white oak and French oak barrels for an extended period, we craft tequilas uniquely different from other tequilas with layers of flavors that unfold with each sip. That makes our Aplomo perfect for sipping neat or mixing into your favorite cocktail.
Aplomo Tequila is made from a recipe E spent months refining in Mexico with the master distillers at Tequilera Rivesca. It is his driving passion to deliver tequila with the essence of Mexico’s traditions and a hint of the bold spirit of Georgia. That is why every batch of our tequila is taste-tested by E before it is released to ensure that it meets his high standards.
In life, there are times when you deserve to treat yourself, times to savor the moment. You strive to succeed and should have a drink that rewards you with each sip. That is why we created our tequila. As we say at Aplomo, Don’t go to the Bar, Raise It. You do that every time you reach for a bottle of Aplomo Tequila.
